Giada De Laurentiis is an American chef, author and television personality of Italian descent. She was the host of the Food Network's "Giada at Home." De Laurentiis also contributes and co-hosts NBC's Today show on a regular basis. De Laurentiis is also the founder of GDL Foods, a catering company, and winner of a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lifestyle Host and a Gracie Award for Best Television Host.
He was born and raised in Rome, Italy. As a child, Giada found herself in the family kitchen and spent a lot of time at her grandfather's restaurant, the DDL Food show. De Laurentiis attended and graduated from Marymount High School in Los Angeles. Later, it was written in University of CaliforniaLos Angeles, and received a degree in social anthropology in 1996. He also attended Le Cordon Bleu in France and specializes in cuisine and confectionery.
After Giada completed her studies in France, she returned to the United States and became a professional chef, working with several Los Angeles restaurants. She later worked as a food stylist and was contacted by the Food Network after styling a piece in Food and Wine magazine in 2002. On April 5, 2003, Food Network data's cooking show, Everyday Italian, premiered. Giada's Weekend Getaways, her third show, premiered on the Food Network in January 2007. She visits her favorite local food spots on this show as she travels to a featured location. Additionally, in June 2007, she hosted Giada in Paradise, a two-part Food Network special set in Santorini, Greece and Capri, Italy. She also participated in the third season of Next Food Network Star as a guest judge.
Academia Barilla, an Italian gourmet company, was founded by De Laurentiis and the Barilla Group in 2008. It was Barilla's first foray into the celebrity gourmet market. Giada was a judge on Food Network Star with Chef Bobby Flay during the seventh season, and in the eighth season, she took on a new role as the leader of a team of five chefs battling against the teams of Bobby Flay and Alton Brown. She also launched a kitchenware brand exclusively for Target in early 2010. That same year, she was voted #6 on CafeMom's annual Sexiest Moms Alive list.
Additionally, she debuted GAIDI, her first restaurant, inside The Cromwell in Las Vegas, Nevada, in July 2014. “Lemon Spaghetti, Chicken Cacciatore, Marsala Herb Meatballs, Rosemary Focaccia, Lemon and Vegetable Rigatoni Bolognese ,” according to the GIADA menu, which also includes family-style, vegan and gluten-free options, as well as an antipasto station.

De Laurentiis voiced Gelata in the 2014 American version of the Tinker Bell special Pixie Hellow Bake Off and the 2018 film Scooby-Doo! and Gourmet Ghost, she said. De Laurentiis' Food Network series "Giada Entertains" won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Culinary Series on June 26, 2020, and also won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Culinary Host on the same day. De Laurentiis also starred in a new 2021 Hyundai Tucson TV commercial to promote the vehicle.
