While teaching at a High School in Wolfsburg from 1983 to 1987, Nina began working as a freelancer for NDR radio. In 1987 she moved to Berlin to work as a script girl, assistant director of several TV and film productions and editorial assistant at the family program SFB.

In 1988, he was one of the editors involved in the creation of RIAS-TV where he presented the evening news program Abendschau and later the morning television show Frühstückfernsehen.
